Roche's Feeds - Feed to nourish a lifetime performance

The concept of nutrition for life is key to the new line of dairy and beef feeds being formulated and developed by Roche’s Feeds. We have embraced in this the longevity for the animal, animal health and welfare and the fact that correct nutrition tailored for the stage of life of the animal aids health, reduces stress and antibiotic usage on farm animals. We are using the very latest scientific developments in additives to minimise the risk of pathogenic diseases and metabolic diseases to animals through appropriate use of essential oils, yeasts and beta-glucans, buffers, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.

Feeding from start of life to end of life

We aim to give the animal every chance of getting the best start in life and believe that this will lead to a long productive life. Research in Europe has shown that heifer calves that suffer 3 to 4 incidences of pneumonia during their first year of life, that 70% of these heifers will only have one calf in their lifetime. When we consider the cost of producing that heifer to calf down to be €1300 to €1500 and then only milk 1 lactation, this a huge financial loss to the farmer and the national herd.

We believe that with this new range of feeds we can help farmers to minimise calf diseases, calf mortality, and improved heifer rearing performance, improve herd fertility, improve cow mobility and improve milk solids through good health leading to longevity in the herd, and thus herd profitability.

Roche’s Feeds Calf Milk Replacer

This is a specially formulated calf milk replacer. We have selected high quality milk proteins and very digestible fats to encourage maximum growth rates, reach optimum weaning live weights quickly and thus reduce the cost of calf rearing. We have combined a scientifically proven package of gut health enhancers in our calf milk replacer to reduce incidence of Salmonella and Ecoli Scour while also reducing the burden of Coccidiosis. Our zootechnical additives combine with a tried and tested probiotic to stabilise the calf’s gut heath. Our calf milk replacer is 23% protein and 18% oil.

Roche’s Feeds Elite Calf Pencils

To support the high calf growth rates and to continue to aid in reducing the burden on the calf gut of pathogens like Ecoli, Salmonella, Crytosporidia and Coccidiosis we have formulated our Elite Calf Pencils to include the same zootechnical additives that support gut health in a palatable and nutritious 18% protein pencil for feeding to calves from 10 days old until 3 weeks post weaning.

Roche’s Feeds Heifer Rearer 20%

This is a high protein palatable nut designed to stimulate rumen development and support high growth rates in weaned heifer calves so as to enable them to achieve 85% of mature body weight when calving down between 22 and 26 months of age. This nut has added B vitamins, yeast and is formulated to .7% phosphorus to support good bone mineralisation during this period of high growth rates. This feed can be fed at between 1 to 2 kgs per head per day depending on grass or forage availability and can be introduced to calves immediately after weaning.

Roche’s Feeds Pedigree Pencils

This formula is highly nutritious, well buffered and can be fed at high feeding rates to all ages of cattle. It is particularly suited to cattle for showing or for bulls being prepared for sale as breeding animals. This is an 18% protein nut designed to help maintain a healthy rumen environment, drive good Dry Matter intakes to support up to 2 kgs live weight gain per hd per day. It includes the Roche’s Feeds Show Cattle Top Up pack which helps stimulate hair growth and shine as well as supporting energy metabolism and growth.

This is a 40% cereal based feed with highly palatable fibres such as sugar beet pulp and soya hulls for stable rumen function. It is well mineralised and formulated to .6% phosphorous. The Pedigree Pencil nut will support a healthy rumen, drive growth rates and give a good coat of hair to bulls being prepared for sale for the very important breeding season. Healthy bulls all the way along are more fertile.
